This Program may be of interest to you if:

1. You are an equine therapist or facilitator, or you have some other equine qualification for working with horses, and you help people with either your own horses or other people's horses.

And you would like to offer an activity to your clients that is healing and enjoyable for your horses as well as to the people you serve.

2. You are interested in learning to develop your own energy as you believe somehow you can help horses with energy and help people too.

3. You are willing to work at developing your energy in a systematic way and to practice three or four times a week.

4. You would love to be able to help your clients by giving them an activity with horses that is physical as well as energetic.

Five Element Chi Gung Healing with Horses can help and improve Emotional and Mental Well Being. Working with the energy of the Five Elements is something that has been used for Millenia to help people.

5. You have a client base that would be open to practicing with energy.

You have clients that like working with horses and would likely be open to working with their energy in the company of horses.

Please note this practice is not suitable for people with serious mental illness, such as bipolar disorder.

It is not a practice that should be used to heal serious illnesses such as cancer with horses.

My name is Jenny Pim. I'm the creator of Equestrian Tai Chi. I'm a Certified Tai Chi Instructor registered with the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain and a Certified Riding Coach registered with Horse Sport Ireland. I also volunteered with the RDAI (Riding for the Disabled Association Ireland) for two years and held a weekly Tai Chi class for Members from the National Council for the Blind in Ireland (NCBI) for two years.

My passion is to bring what I learn from Tai Chi and Taoist Arts to help people and horses together and to help people to develop and enhance their relationships with their horses, whether it be riding, on the ground or in their ordinary day to day connections with them.

Five Element Chi Gung Healing with Horses is a Program I've developed for Equine Therapists and Facilitators, or people with an equine qualification, who would like to learn the practices themselves and to learn how to teach them to the people they help.

What are the Five Elements?

Equestrian Tai Chi Form (1)

According to Taoist Tradition all matter, and all human dynamics are made up of some combination of the invisible energies of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water.

All living beings, and non-living matter, are governed by and made up of the five phases of energy.

The Five Elements are in everything that is formed and are inside all physical and non-physical dynamics.

The Five Elements are an important part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where the idea is to bring the elements into balance to help people.

We can also bring the elements into balance with Chi Gung practice specific to each element.

If the Five Elements are in balance people benefit physically, emotionally and mentally.

Learning to work with the energy of the Five Elements with Chi Gung improves, health and vitality and emotional and mental wellbeing.

Learning to clear the elements when they are blocked enhances how their positive qualities can help us.

What is Five Element Chi Gung Healing with Horses?

Equestrian Tai Chi Form (2)

Five Element Chi Gung Healing with Horses is a practice to improve people's emotional and mental wellbeing in the company of horses. It is to help the horse as well as the human.

Horses benefit from being in our presence when we work with the energy of the five elements as the five elements are in our horse as well as ourselves. They are in all living beings.

Five Element Chi Gung Healing with Horses has different parts which make up its practice.

  1. It involves learning to feel the different energies of the five elements in our bodies.
  2. It involves learning to work with the energy of the different elements and to harness their power to amplify their benefits in our Equine Tai Chi or Equine Chi Gung practice.
  3. It involves learning to find and clear energetic blockages.
  4. It involves learning to clear blockages in the Five Elements.
  5. It involves integrating the energy of the Five Elements to help us feel comfortable and stable inside.

Five Element Chi Gung Healing with Horses is a practice where the teacher can show and help the student how to practice near a horse. It is to allow the student to build a special bond with the pony.

Once the student knows how to practice and is able to practice on his or her own near the horse, and it is safe for the student and horse to do so, then the student can practice without the teacher near them. Or it may be that the student will still wish to practice with the teacher even if they do know how to practice the movements.

Benefits of Five Element Chi Gung Healing with Horses

Five Element Chi Gung Healing with Horses has many elements which contribute to its benefits.

It combines the positive effects of the therapeutic energy and presence of the horse with the benefits of Chi Gung, plus the added benefits of working with the energy of the Five Elements to enhance emotional and mental wellbeing.

Horses benefit from Interactive Equine Tai Chi and Chi Gung practice and they also benefit when adding working with the energy of the element to practice.

As well as learning how to amplify the positive qualities of the elements, students learn to clear blocked energy.

When clearing energy that is not flowing freely, we just work with the energy that we feel naturally in our bodies and clear where it is blocked with no particular focus except to clear the blockages. It is not considered necessary to know what content was in the blockage, just that the energy is now cleared.

Horses can also respond when blocked energy is cleared in the element. They are likely able to feel when a student's energy is blocked already.

It's a mutual practice, where the human's practice benefits the pony as well as him/herself, and in turn the human receives the magnified effects of the calm energy of the horse!

The energy moves through our thoughts and emotions as well as our body when we practice Interactive Equine Tai Chi and Chi Gung, bringing them to the surface, making it easier for us to feel them, and so our practice can help to balance them and clear them.

It helps to form a bond between the person and the pony and allows them to feel empathy for each other on many levels. It develops a mutual understanding and connection that  is nurturing for them both.

It give the person the opportunity to interact with other beings in a way that he/she would normally not have, and to benefit from the wonderful presence and energy of the horse.

Here is what you will learn in the Five Element Chi Gung Healing with Horses Program.

Equestrian Tai Chi Form (5)

The Program has five core practices:-

1. Learning to feel the different energies of the Five Elements.

You'll learn to feel the energy of the element in your body, so you can always recognise it and refer to it when you need to. You'll learn to teach your students how to do this.

2. Learning to work with the energy of the different elements in Interactive Equine Chi Gung practice.

You'll learn to work with with the energy of the different elements in different ways in your Equine Chi Gung practice. You'll learn to teach your students how to do this.

3. You'll learn different ways of finding and clearing energetic blockages.

Clearing energy blockages improves the functioning of your body and clears your mind while balancing the energy of your thoughts and emotions. It gives you mental strength and allows your mind to settle and concentrate.

It can teach us to be aware of what is happening in different parts of our body. The first step is to become aware of your experience.

We can learn to clear energy in our bodies and minds that can control how we act think and feel, so we can be free to live as we really want to live.

You'll learn to teach your students how to find and clear blockages.

4. You'll learn to clear blockages in the five elements.

Every blockage is composed of the five elements and Taoists believe that the different elements need to be cleared in the blockage. Clearing blockages helps to calm anxieties, reduces stress and gives your nerves a way to discharge accumulated tension.

You'll learn how to teach your students to do this.

5. You'll learn to balance and integrate the energy of the five elements in your body.

You'll learn to teach your students how to do this.

You'll have one full year to complete the program.

How long is the Program?

The Program has five core Modules, each four weeks long.

Every week, you'll be given a few exercises to practice from the the difference parts in the Program;- learning to feel the energy of the Five Elements, working with the energy of the different elements in Interactive Equine Tai Chi and Chi Gung, clearing blockages or clearing blockages in the Five Elements.

Then there will be another four weeks to complete practice lessons with some friends or students.

What is required to become a Certified Five Element Chi Gung Practitioner?

This Program is for people who are already qualified Equine Therapists or Facilitators or who have a qualification for working with horses, who would like to add Five Element Chi Gung Healing with Horses as part of their integrated services.

To be eligible for certification you will need to send videos of yourself practicing Five Element Chi Gung with a horse close by.

Five videos should be sent in, but depending on how you get on, you may be asked to review parts of your practice, and send in a further video. This is all part of learning and training and it is to help you! It is ideal to send in a video every month.

Every three weeks for the duration of the Program there will be a live Zoom Practice Call.

On the call we review and practice the different parts of Five Element Chi Gung Healing with Horses and help with any questions.

If at the end of your videos series, you demonstrate that you have practiced sufficiently to have enough skill and a good understanding of Five Element Chi Gung Healing with Horses, you will be Certified By Distance as a Five Element Chi Gung Practitioner, and will receive a Certificate to indicate this. This certificate will remain valid for two years, after which you will be required to submit another video of yourself practicing, in order to keep your certification up to date. It will be required to re-certify every two years.

An important part of the training is attending the weekly Challenges in our online Forum.

To help learn the material in the course, you’re given a weekly Challenge with just a few new things to learn each week, so it is step by step. Then you’re asked to write a short description of your practice in the Forum on two separate days!

For the Written Work for the course, you'll be asked to answer a short open book Questionnaire and to give 3 lessons to a student and write up a Lesson Plan and Review for them.

This is to help you and to ensure you have understood the main important points. You will be given the information on this, and asked to write it in your own words!

The Lesson Plans and Reviews are to get you established in planning your lessons and reviewing them. This way you will get to deliver interesting helpful lessons, that your students and their horses will enjoy and benefit from.

The time it would take to take part in this program each week is about a half hour, four or five times a week. This will give you time to watch the videos, learn the exercises and practice them and write about your practice in the challenge Forum! There might seem like a lot of things to learn, but all of the videos and lessons are short.
