Introducing
Tao Riding
For riders who want to deepen their connection with their horse and to keep themselves and their horse calm, by uniting and communicating through energy.
Imagine for a moment, if you're riding your horse and he suddenly stops, stands completely still, solid as a rock, head up, alert, he's heard something... You get worried, what's he going to do, what should you do? Get down? push him on? And then you remember…
You begin practicing the exercises in Tao Riding, you start the flow in your body and then you gently nudge your horse forward and say walk on and then you slip into the flow of Tao Riding together, as one united energy...
You send your horse calming and connecting energy through your body and he begins to relax and walk freely, and you relax too. The little incident is all forgotten about...
Horses connect through energy and emotion, they're herd animals, they hate being alone.
They can feel inside each others bodies. They can feel inside our bodies, something that we normally cannot do.
Their job is staying alive so they have to be on the lookout at whats going on around them. If we feel scared about something it will alert them that something might be up and they better pay attention.
Or if they notice something is different in their environment, it will alert them. Some horses are more active in this than others, and can be more reactive.
I believe that we can help ourselves and our horse by connecting and communicating through energy as it is the natural way for horses to connect and if develop our ability to do this then we will become more like them.
We can also learn to unite with the energy of the horse and ride as one united energy, then we can calm them and balance directly from inside of us and send them healing and balancing energy.
If this is something that you would like to learn, I can help you do that.
My name is Jenny Pim, I'm just an ordinary person, an ordinary rider, but I have a huge interest in helping horses and humans to connect and be happy and relaxed together as I think we are so lucky to be able to ride and spend time with horses, they are the most amazing creatures.
I'm a Certified Tai Chi Instructor and a Certified Riding Instructor registered with Horse Sport Ireland and I'm the founder and creator of Equestrian Tai Chi and Tao Riding.
I live in Ireland with my husband, dogs and ponies, with occasional visits from our three grown-up sons and grandchild!
I believe that we can try to help horses by connecting and communicating with them in a way that is natural for them, so that we come to be more like them and they will feel more comfortable being with us because we can feel in a way they can feel too.
Having more connection is something that riders want with their horses and horses love to connect with us too, but there are several ways that connection is blocked between us or not reached at the level that we sense it can be. Here's some reasons why:-
1. I think many of us are unaware of how we affect our horse with the energy of our emotions.
As our horse is a herd animal, he's used to tuning into other animals and being able to feel how they feel. This is one of his survival mechanisms, if other horses, or humans, nearby feel afraid, then there's something to look out for and he better pay attention and be ready to take action.
Horses connect through energy and emotion, they can sense the vibration of fear in our bodies and this alerts them.
If we have very strong emotions with another being, it creates a connection between us, that is energetic.
If we have both felt very afraid out riding over a particular incident, that memory of fear remains in both of our bodies and it forms a nexus of connection between us.
It's a connection that can influence very strongly as it is an intense memory.
It is the same for our horse, it affects him strongly too.
So we end up in a loop of energy together, where this energy is triggered in both our bodies at the same time.
So if a similar incident happens to the one that previously happened, then this energy gets activated immediately and if we feel the same level of fear again, the fear the we are already holding in our body as a memory gets added to.
It continues to get added to with additional incidents.
The problem is that if we don't address this, the memories remain in our bodies and the connection remains between us. But it keeps us connected in a way that is not helpful to either of us.
The memories become like a snowball being added to all the time with additional ones of similar vibration.
These are blocked stagnant energies in our bodies. But they are very powerful and they keep our focus.
They stop us connecting with the energy of our true selves, which is our essence, and they also stop our horse connecting with his essence, as we are both being controlled by the energy of the memories in our bodies and energy field.
We are connected through the memories of these emotions and we cannot connect with each other through the energy of our true selves, that is where the really special lasting partnership is formed.
So these blocked memories are not only keeping us more afraid, they'e also affecting our horse, triggering us both together, and they're stopping us from connecting at the level of our true selves.
We can learn to find and let go of these memories of fear in our bodies, so that when they are gone, even if we do become afraid again, it's not at the same level of intensity.
As our fear is less intense, it doesn't affect us so much and then we are able to us other strategies to help us with our fear and they're more affective as they don't have to deal with the memories of fear that we trapped in our body.
2. Horses can sense energy flowing in our bodies, even though we might not be aware of it.
Horses can sense energy in each others' bodies, they can also sense energy in our body, and if it is flowing or not.
When we ride, the movement of the horse creates motility in our body as it is moved by the actions the horse makes.
So a flow of energy is created in us by the movement of the horse. A similar flow is created in the horse's body at the same time.
Because we do not have an awareness of chi flow, it is something that is being missed as a point of communication between us.
As well as this if we don't learn to feel chi flow, it prevents us from doing other things, such as communicating with our horse through energy and uniting with the energy of our horse and balancing and calming our horse through energy.
We don't get that wonderful connected feeling with our horse that makes riding so memorable and enjoyable.
It is also also an inequality in the connection between us, as our horse is able to sense something that we cannot.
If we can be aware of our energy, our horse can sense this awareness in us and it forms a nexus of connection between us that is good.
If we learn to feel chi flow in our bodies, then we can sense when it is flowing or not and then we can try to correct what is stopping it from flowing.
Riding will feel pleasant to the horse so he is going to feel drawn to connect with us.
We have a point of connection between us that is similar to what horses have between them, as they are able to feel chi flow in each others bodies.
When we learn to Feel Chi flow, then we can learn to unite with our horses energy, then we can balance ours and our horses energy together as we're riding, this has a calming connecting affect on both of us.
When we learn to feel chi flow and to awaken the different aspects of our energy system, we can communicate with our horse through energy.
This brings a special bond to our partnership as we're connecting through the consciousness in both of our bodies.
This also helps us both to feel calm and connected as we're united in a higher energy that is healing and affects us both.
Tao Riding is a program for us to develop our energy so we can learn a way of riding that deepen our connection with our horse and will balance and calm and connect ours and our horses energies together.
It is also a program for us to learn to manage our fears and to let go of the energy in our body that holds the memories of our past fears, that are still affecting us.
The Tao Riding program is 12 months long but it will take you that time to learn all this and possibly more time, but it is time that is well spent and will deepen and add to the partnership you already have with your horse, making it even more special for both of you.
The Tao Riding Program has six core monthly modules, here's what you'll learn as you progress though them:-

I hope that by now, you have a good understanding about Tao Riding, and what it could mean for you and your horse, if you were to learn the material in it.
Through learning Equestrian Tai Chi, you will balance your horse's energy and your energy and deepen your partnership together. Your horse will become more confident with you and feel more connected to you.
Your energy will become very smooth and very easy for your horse to be near and your horse will naturally be drawn more to wanting to connect with you.
You will relax both of your nervous systems as you practice and your energy fields will unite with your practice.
As you learn to let go of the energy of the memories of fear that is blocked in your body, your energy will flow more easily and you'll become to feel how they become activated in certain situations and let them go.
You will feel calmer and less triggered.
If you feel a little nervous riding you can use some of the breathing exercises to help.
You'll also be able to affect your horse positively with this.
You can help yourself and your horse to be calm and connected by riding in the healing balancing way in the program.
Through learning the alignments, you will come to open and develop your energy and to realise how you're connected inside.
Through learning to feel chi flow, you'll know if you're blocking your energy and will be able to correct.
Your awareness of energy will be appreciated and noticed by your horse and it will be a focus of connection between you.
As you communicate through energetic aids, your partnership will deepen as you're connecting at a deeper energetic level and connecting through consciousness in you both.
All of this leads to communicating and connecting with your horse at deeper and subtle levels, making the connection between you and your horse more satisfying for both of you.
Through learning the exercises to develop your energy, your energy body will begin to awaken, you'll begin to feel chi flow, to feel the energy of the horse underneath you and how the horses movement affects the flow of energy in your body.
As your awareness deepens, your horse becomes aware of you being aware and a deeper more subtle connection forms between you.
As you ride as one united energy with your horse, you'll also learn to feel how the creative pulse of the universe unites you and connects you both together.
In my experience, this forms a connection that lasts beyond time and space.
