Introducing
Equestrian Tai Chi for Instructors
An online course for Instructors to learn Equestrian Tai Chi, and to learn how to teach it to their clients.
Equestrian Tai Chi is suitable for a broad spectrum of people, it can be taught to individuals or to groups of any age and to people with differing levels of ability and disability.
It is useful to teach Equestrian Tai Chi in the following situations:
1. It helps horses and riders relax before a ride, or after a ride.
When horses and riders relax before a ride, it helps them to bond and connect. This makes the riding experience more enjoyable for both the horse and the rider. Equestrian Tai Chi can be taught at anytime during the ride. When it is practiced at the end of the ride, it's a lovely finish to the ride for the horse as well as the rider. It rests and rejuvenates both of them
2. It helps nervous riders overcome their fear.
When riders practice Equestrian Tai Chi, it makes the energy flow in their bodies, and relaxes the parts that have become frozen with fear.
3. Tai Chi has been scientifically proven to help with many of our modern diseases and conditions.
Tai Chi has been scientifically proven to help with Autism, Dyspraxia, Multiple Sclerosis, Diabetes, Depression, High Blood Pressure and other conditions.
4. Equestrian Tai Chi is an activity that benefits riders with disabilities.
Equestrian Tai Chi, works on physical, emotional, mental and energetic levels. As well as stretching and lengthening muscles, other benefits include include improved balance, posture, coordination, concentration and flexibility. Equestrian Tai Chi increases confidence and improves one's general Well Being
5. It can help to relieve pain in joints and muscles.
Equestrian Tai Chi brings energy all through the joints in the body, helping energy to flow in them and bringing heat and healing to parts that need it.
6. It relieves stress.
Most people's lives are affected by stress. Prolonged stress has long term damaging effects on people's health. Tai Chi has been proven to relieve stress. When combined with the therapeutic energy of the horse as in Equestrian Tai Chi, the benefits of Tai Chi are magnified. It also helps to relieve some of the common problems associated with stress, such as insomnia.
7. It allows you to provide a safe and health giving activity for your clients that are unable to, or do not want to ride conventionally, but still want to enjoy sitting on a horse.
Equestrian Tai Chi compliments riding, and it shares common principles with it, major ones being that correct posture and a relaxed bodies are essential components. When riders practice Equestrian Tai Chi, they engage their energy bodies. This makes it easier for them and their horse to connect energetically. A deeper bond is made between the horse and rider as a unified energy field is formed between them. This way the rider benefits more from the therapeutic energy of the horse and it greatly enhances the time the rider spends with the horse.
Here is what you will learn in the course.
I created this course as a learning-teaching course, so that you could get into right away, without having to take months or years before you can begin to teach, or learning hundreds of complicated movements.
The main part of the course has three core modules. Each module includes Equestrian Tai Chi exercises for you to learn, and a Teaching Section with Weekly Lesson Plans for you to follow while teaching your clients. The course is designed for you to begin teaching, as soon as you feel proficient to do so.
In the main part of the course you will learn the First part of The Equestrian Tai Chi Form and Equestrian Chi Gung Exercises. The Equestrian Tai Chi Form is a sequence of movements performed in a flowing manner, while the Equestrian Chi Gung Exercises are single movements, that are repeated multiple times, they are generally symmetrical and are easy to learn. You will learn The Equestrian Tai Chi Form both on the right side and the left sides. The training videos are shown in mirror image to make it easier for you to follow along with them.
As well as the main part of the course with the three core modules, the course includes a second section where you can learn the rest of The Equestrian Tai Chi Form. This is for you to learn in your own time, and to develop your skill.
The second section also contains The Simplified Equestrian Tai Chi Form and simplified Equestrian Chi Gung exercises. This is useful if you are teaching people with Special Needs or people who find learning the regular Equestrian Tai Chi Form challenging.
There are two options for joining Equestrian Tai Chi For Instructors.
Option 1: To join without the intent of becoming a Certified Equestrian Tai Chi Instructor.
The training material in the course is the same as for people who wish to become Certified Equestrian Tai Chi Instructors. With this option you do not have to send in the videos for feedback.
Option 2: To join with the intent of becoming a Certified Equestrian Tai Chi Instructor.
If you would like to make teaching Equestrian Tai Chi a speciality, there is an option to become a Certified (by distance) Equestrian Tai Chi Instructor.
To be eligible for certification you will need to send videos of yourself practicing Equestrian Tai Chi on horseback. Ten videos should be sent in all, within a year from the date of joining the course, ideally spaced about a month apart. Each video should show continued improvement in your practice.
If at the end of your videos series, you demonstrate that you have practiced sufficiently to have enough skill and a good understanding of Equestrian Tai Chi, you will be Certified By Distance as an Equestrian Tai Chi Instructor, and will receive a Certificate to indicate this. This certificate will remain valid for two years, after which you will be required to submit another video of yourself practicing, in order to keep your certification up to date. It will be required to re-certify every two years.

Lisa Scott from Co. Durham in The United Kingdom is our first Certified Instructor
This is what she has to say ....
- I Joined Equestrian Tai Chi in March 2016 after looking at options to add to my current instructor Qualifications!
I was given lots of material by the founder Jenny Pim in the benefits to both horse and rider in Tai Chi and decided to start the instructors Certification course.
Having never done Tai Chi or anything similar before I wasn't sure how I would pick it up.
I need not have been concerned the modules are easy to follow with both written and video tuition on how to perform both the Equestrian Chi Gung and Equestrian Tai Chi. It's a full step by step guide of what to do!
The horses really look forward to the break within the lesson to practice and I've witnessed for myself with several horses how calm, relaxed and generally happier they seem.
I am so pleased I decided to do the course and am thoroughly enjoying every moment of it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course. It most certainly has a place in the equine world!
Jenny has been amazing and has been available for any questions I have, and has given me very thorough and positive feedback in my video analysis.
I’m now teaching my own clients and they've found it easy to follow too. Both they and I are very much enjoying the practice and I have noticed a big difference in my clients confidence and positivity when riding!

Jill Roth was our first Certified Instructor in The United States, she's now living in British Columbia, Canada
This is what she has to say ....
- I am so pleased with my Equestrian Instructor's course. I was expecting a lot and Jenny Pim's course has went well past my expectations. I love the small "chunks" of information in the lessons.
- I am easily able to study at home, make minor notes on my phone and then practice at the ranch. Watching the different moves in several different formats is really helpful.
- I was particularly impressed with Jenny's critiques of my videos. What a clever and constructive way to teach from a distance. She is able to make suggestions and give support right on my video.
- I enjoy the fact that I can go back and look at the videos whenever I want a refresher.
- I have already started teaching my friends for practice and it has been so exciting to see how their horses resonate with the Tai Chi. Just today my friend asked me again if she could have a lesson. We both noticed her horse steady his breathing, lower is head and lick and chew while she enjoyed the energy flow of Equestrian Tai Chi.
- Truly an excellent course.
Carol Weiss from Tennessee is a Trainee Instructor
This is what she has to say ....
- I'm not exactly sure how I found out about the Equestrian Tai Chi For Instructors, but somehow it appeared on my computer. I have been really interested in energy flow, chakras, energy healing, and such for a little while now, so the idea of Equestrian Tai Chi fit in perfectly with that thought process.
- I had never done Tai Chi, but adding the element of the horse was very intriguing. I have a Equine Assisted Learning Program, and we were in the process of putting together a new program, Power Up, for breast cancer survivors. I knew that Equestrian Tai Chi would be perfect for that program.
- I decided to take the course so I could incorporate Equestrian Tai Chi into my program. The coursework has been great. The videos and instruction are very clear and easy to follow...even for someone like me who has never done this before.
- Jenny has been wonderful in providing immediate and helpful feedback on my practice videos. I am looking very forward to completing my certification and incorporating this into my program.

This course is an opportunity for you to teach riders a skill that will enhance their riding. A skill that will give them a better understanding of posture and balance, that will develop their sensitivity and feel, and improve their flexibility and suppleness.
It provides an opportunity for horses and riders to bond and connect and to know peace and stillness together. It is for horses as well a for riders, and it’s a chance to give back to horses for everything that they do for us.
