Introducing
Riding As One

For riders who want to make a real difference to their horse's lives through developing a deeper and more supportive energetic and spiritual connection with them riding.
What is the difference and why riding?
When we ride our horse, we're in a Yin Yang relationship.
Sometimes we are more Yin and sometimes the horse is.
In any Yin Yang pair of opposites, we are taught to find the middle of them, where somehow they are both the same.
Where we and our horse are both the same is our energy.
If we can come into balance and let go of the things that are keeping us separate from ourselves and our horse, we can come into harmony with our horse.
The difference is that your horse And for you to be able to relax your horse with a practice that takes just a very short time every day or so, but has lasting effects?
How would it feel to be able to release tension,
How would it feel for your energy to be so smooth and balanced that you horse is drawn to wanting to connect with you?
And for you to be able to relax your horse with a practice that takes just a very short time every day or so, but has lasting effects?
How would it feel to be able to release tension,
A little bit about me...

My name is Jenny Pim, I specialise in is training people how to refine and develop their internal energy for the benefit of themselves and their horses using Equestrian Tai Chi, and other Taoist methods.
All of this began by chance, many years ago. I had a busy life, bringing up my family, breeding ponies and teaching Tai Chi, so to save time, I’d often prepare for my evening Tai Chi classes when I was riding.
I began to notice that the ponies I practiced on were enjoying our practice and would lower their heads and relax. I noticed the ponies became more relaxed and connected to me, they wanted to be with me more. So I developed Equestrian Tai Chi, so it could become something that other people and their horses could benefit from as well.
In the beginning it was just Equestrian Tai Chi, which is practiced while the horse is standing still, so they can relax and absorb and benefit from the practice.
Then I developed Taoist Breathing for Riding.
Then as my own energy developed more, I added other things, feeling chi flow riding, communicating with our horse through our energy riding and letting go of blockages riding and then feeling the energy of the horse in us, and feeling the energy of the horse beneath us riding.
All of this feels very united as if we are riding as one with our horse.
An important part is the energetic connection as well that we get through the energy of the movement of the horse and how it connects us both and unites us in this special higher energy. We can learn to develop ourselves so we can feel this energy in time, and learn all the other things too, through specialised energy exercises developed for horseback and riding, not just Equestrian Tai Chi, but as well as it.
I'm a Certified Tai Chi Instructor registered with the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain and a Certified Riding Coach registered with Horse Sport Ireland.
My passion is to bring what I learn from Tai Chi and Taoist Arts to help riders and horse people to develop and enhance their relationships with their horses, whether it be riding or in their ordinary day to day connections with them. Equestrian Tai Chi - Riding As One is the program that I've developed for riders.

Horses love to connect, they are herd animals and hate being alone.
Having more connection is something that riders want with their horses, but there are several ways that connection is blocked between us or not reached at the level that we sense it can be. Here's some of the main reasons why:-
1. We are unaware of just how much we affect their horse with our feelings and emotions.
Horses can sense the energy of our emotions very minutely, they can sense even if our emotions are more ingrained or just fleeting emotions relating to the circumstance that we are in.
2. Horses can sense our energy when it is blocked, and when it flows again.
3. Their horse may have been treated badly by riders in the past and is lacking trust with its current rider because of this.
5. It's for riders who want a deeper connection with their horse when they ride and to be able to engage energetically with their horse.
6. It's for riders who want to feel their Chi flow in harmony with their horse when they ride.
7. It's for riders who would like the security of being able to have feedback on their practice to know they were practicing in a productive way.

I often hear riders being given advice like, ‘put your heels down’.
People giving this advice may mean well, but a rider who does this is actually forcing themselves into a position that will stop their chi flowing or severely impede the flow of chi.
Riders who are interested in chi flow riding and synergy between themselves and their horse need to learn how to open and develop thmuch more than this to calm their fear.
Most people know that deep breathing helps to calm fear, but if that was all it took, then nobody would be afraid when they were riding.
It is true that deep breathing is great for calming fear, but in reality, people are not able to sustain it for long, unless they practice it, and more importantly, unless they practice the right type of breathing.
Taking few deep breaths and then going back to being scared again is not contributing to lasting change. It is not going to give you the confidence in yourself, when you are going out for a ride, that you have the ability to control your fear.
I developed Taoist Breathing For Riding and unlike other breathing advice often given to nervous riders, these exercises take into account that you are in continuous motion, and are in close contact with your horse, who will be affected by your breathing.
I have spent years developing the exercises that are compatible with riding and calming fear into a system, that gives people strategies for different types of situations.
I have been teaching Tai Chi professionally since 2002. I’m a registered Tai Chi Instructor for The Tai Chi Union For Great Britain and a Certified Riding Coach with Horse Sport Ireland.
My interests now lie in teaching Equestrian Tai Chi, in helping people manage their fear of riding and connecting with their horse, and in teaching special interest groups. I have taught many different types of people, for many years, how to connect with their energy, and I believe that it is an ability we all have within us.
Riding As One focuses on finding unity through energy, spirit and movement with our horse and letting go of the energy that is blocked and keeps us separate.
Here's some of the things you'll learn:-
Equestrian Tai Chi -
Equestrian Tai Chi - this is a practice that is as much for our horse as it is for us. It relaxes us and our horse together, calming both of our nervous systems and developing the energy pathways of our body, opening up the energetic lines of communication between us.
You'll learn the physical and energetic alignments to optimise chi flow in your body riding.
You'll learn to find and let go of energetic blockages in your body.
You'll learn different methods of letting go of blockages both on the ground and riding. You'll learn how you inadvertently create negative connections between yourself and your horse and how to let them go.
You'll learn Breathing
You'll learn different methods of breathing
You'll learn to feel Chi Flow
You'll learn different ways that chi flows through our body riding, through specialised energy exercises developed for horseback and riding.
You'll learn different ways that consciousness collects in your body and how it connects you to your horse.
You'll learn about different parts of your body and how through our practice we can open and refine the energy of them.
You'll learn to communicate with your horse through your energy riding.
You'll learn to give subtle energetic aids that can be used as well as and sometimes instead of physical aids.
You'll learn to feel the Energy of the Movement of the horse.
You'll learn to feel the energy of the movement of the horse beneath you riding and you'll also learn to feel the energy of the movement of the horse in your body riding.
You'll learn to feel how the movement of the horse unites your energies riding.
You'll learn the process of feeling how the energy of the movement of the horse unites you both riding, and how this special energy is calming and supportive for you both, deepens your partnership and connects you at deeper energetic levels riding.
This is a connection that lasts beyond time and space and transfers into the rest of your daily life together as well.
When you ride like this, as the Chi flows through your physical bodies, it also flows through the layers of your energies, your vitalities, your emotions, your minds and your spirits – these extend from inside your bodies out into your bio-energetic fields.
Our riding becomes a shared experience on many levels making it more satisfying for our horse as well as for us as we're connecting at a deeper more subtle level, in a way that is natural for the horse.

This is what people are saying ...

Through practising Equestrian Tai Chi I have really enjoyed beginning to feel energy flowing in my body as I’m riding.
To begin with I practised some of the movements from the Tai Chi Form, first whilst standing, and then whilst seated on my horse ...with my friend standing at his head to ensure he kept fairly still.....He seemed to become very calm and relaxed in fact!More recently I’ve been following the exercises to feel energy moving in my legs and in my arms.
It’s really amazing to begin to realise how many ways energy is moving within our body and to begin to get a sense of how the horses movements link our energies together. It’s a lovely calming experience.Still lots more to learn, which I’m looking forward to!

How Jenny has organized the course is comprehensive and rather ingenious. I can learn at my own pace, but I don't lose my interest (if my pace slows to a crawl) because there are weekly blogs giving us something new each week to focus on as we learn the form. This keeps me engaged in practicing and interested. Jenny's is very good at responding to us individually, answering our questions, and giving us encouragement. The best part, of course, is doing this with the horses. I'm not riding at the moment, but I take my practice to my horses and it's fascinating and fun to see them respond and even participate. I continue to learn about my balance and what's going on in my body, and the horses really seem to appreciate and enjoy that.

He couldn't wait to stop for practice...
Hughy is not nearly as spooky in the arena any more. He will look with ears perked but he is not afraid to go anywhere in there. We did some more riding and then we practiced the Equestrian tai chi form again. He couldn’t wait to stop for the practice. I felt peaceful and also like my form is getting smoother. We're having lots of fun and I'm thrilled with the course and also the fact that it gets me doing more with my ponies during the winter.

I remember thinking that only mystics and sages would be able to feel the energy moving through their bones...
So fun! The biggest difference I can see, is that I can feel the energy moving along its full path much better now. So great to be able to feel it move through its full path. Also, I remember thinking that only mystics and sages would be able to feel the energy moving through their bones, but you really can feel the difference between the channels! I find it remarkable that we “regular folk” can feel that! So cool!

Funny I always thought it was due to the weight change that guides the horse round – but this has again given me a new insight!!
Today I had a brilliant session on Bronte, using everything that we have been doing. I started with some reins moving round the arena in all directions & practising slowing down too. By the end I had a go with no reins & no leg aids as such – totally in control & what I found really amazing was Bronte came in on a smaller circle(with her head bent to the inside) – it really felt so connected even without reins.
I have always done this exercise but the horse would have the head often pointing out so really fantastic that this can make such a difference!!

Giving directional aids through tuning into your energy syncs with the horse so beautifully...
I've been participating in the weekly challenges which vary week by week with new fun challenges. Giving directional aids through tuning into your energy syncs with the horse so beautifully and allows us to focus without effort giving very small subtle aids just by being aware, it has helped enormously with symmetry issues for both horse and rider. The connection you feel with your horse when you practice is amazing, I look forward every Week to my practice to further improve my riding and deepen the connection with the horses I ride and care for.
