Nicola Leonard

Nicola Leonard, Certified Interactive Equine Tai Chi Instructor

I have always had a love for horses, growing up in Southeast London, I had my first riding lesson age 7, but my interest and passion for horses seemed ingrained in my persona, it wasn’t always easy to have access to regular lessons, so I immersed myself in their world through reading and learning as much as I could, and being with them at every opportunity, I also loved drawing and painting them.

When I was with horses, nothing else seemed to matter, I felt calm and happy around them and learnt a lot about myself too, looking back I know they played a large part in my own healing journey.
I have gained experience working in the UK and America teaching horseback riding and taking out trail rides , I also volunteered as a coach for the RDA .I experienced the incredible ways that horses were helping people from just being around them and in their environment.

I wanted to learn more and this inspired me to train as an Equine Facilitated Learning practitioner in 2020.

I also recognised the importance of our internal energy and how it effects horses and whilst I was researching this, I came across Jenny Pim’s Equestrian tai chi course.

I had wanted to learn tai chi so to be able to combine horses and tai chi was the perfect combination.

The course was both engaging and interesting, and it has improved my relationship with my horses. I feel that they appreciate when I practise with them and they feel the calming energy. I am so excited to be able to share this knowledge and practice and be able to offer Interactive Equine Tai Chi to my clients.
